Recertify your Wilderness First Aid certification without having to attend a two-day WFA course. If your WFA certification is not expired more than 30 days, then you are invited to recertify. 

The checklist below will walk you through the requirements and steps to recertification. Upon successful completion of the recertification requirements, you will be issued a two-year, internationally recognized, WFA Certification certificate and card that you can download and print. 

Recertification Checklist

  1. If you have not already done so, purchase the book Wilderness First Aid Made Easy or purchase the Wilderness First Aid Made Easy App from the Apple App Store or Google Play. You have access to all the presentations, demonstrations and handouts provided in a traditional, sixteen-hour WFA course using the QR Codes and links in the book and app.
    1. Review the entire course and prepare for the Knowledge and Skills Assessments.
    2. The instructor holds Office Hours every Tuesday at 8:00 PM EST (0100 UTC) on Zoom. When you register for recertification you will receive an email with the Zoom link. Instructor Office Hours is a great time to ask questions and receive clarification on WFA topics. Students are highly encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to review material with the instructor.
  1. Upload an image of your current (or not expired more than 30  days) WFA certification card or certificate here. This will become a part of your student record. Student records are maintained for the duration of your certification.
  2. Complete the Knowledge Assessment
    1. When you register for the course, you will be provided a link to complete four quizzes that will assess your knowledge on Wilderness First Aid topics. You will be tested on the following WFA topics:
      1. Primary Assessments
      2. Secondary Assessment
      3. Musculoskeletal injury identification and treatment
      4. Soft tissue injury identification and treatment
      5. Illness identification and treatment
    2. You are allowed to use the WFA Made Easy book or app while taking the quizzes.
    3. You must obtain a passing score of 80% correct on each of the four quizzes.
    4. You will be provided the opportunity to retake quizzes until you achieve a passing grade.
    5. Quiz results will become part of your student record. Student records are maintained for the duration of your certification.
  3. Skills Assessment
    1. Students have two options for completing a Skills Assessment.
      1. Attend an Onsite Skills Assessment

      2. Schedule a Virtual Skills Assessment
        1. You may schedule a Virtual Skills Assessment session here.

  4. Certification Requirements. You will receive a WFA Certification upon successful completion of the following tasks:
    1. Purchase the Wilderness First Aid Made Easy book or app.
    2. Knowledge Assessment
      1. Register to recertify and successfully complete the Knowledge Assessment with a passing score of at least 80% on each of the four quizzes..
    3. Skills Assessment
      1. Four scenarios successfully completed in front of the instructor
      2. Both arm splint and leg splint meets all criteria on the Splint Quality Checklists found in Wilderness First Aid Made Easy and the Wilderness First Aid Made Easy App.
      3. Two completed SOAP Notes submitted for evaluation and grading.
